PRESS RELEASE
Online care platform Curam will be showcasing first-of-its-kind technology enabling care providers to select vetted, local carers in real-time, at this month’s Care Show.
The new technology, including the one-to-one video call feature CuramMeet, has been specifically developed for agencies and care homes, to enable shifts to be filled quickly and easily with experienced and skilled carers.
One of the major issues currently facing care providers is the shortage of experienced carers. Curam has a community of 8,000 experienced and highly-skilled carers, 6,000 of which have clocked up 10-plus years’ experience. Because there is less administration and overheads, carers earn on average 60% more than the industry average and providers pay less than usual to fill last-minute shifts.
Two of the three Curam co-founders Ben Weatherall and Jody O’Neill, along with Partnerships director Christopher Denny, will be attending the two-day industry show (Stand J100, Hall 30) at Birmingham’s NEC to unveil the latest improvements and show how the technology is addressing the needs of care providers.
Founded in 2018, over the past five years, Curam has brought together ground-breaking technology and its carers to create the biggest care worker marketplace. Its vetted and DBS-checked carers have delivered more than three million hours of care across the country to date.
The new job posting platform will enable care homes and agencies to effortlessly fill shifts quickly, at scale and to budget. Businesses can post shifts via the platform, which are immediately shared with local, available carers. Curam is seeing an average of six applicants per post within 24 hours of posting.
Curam co-founder Patrick Wallace said: “Hiring carers is a time-consuming, manual process, but in line with the Government’s pledge to digitise care services, Curam is harnessing the latest biometric technology in its recruitment.
“We are aware of the unprecedented pressures on care homes to source carers at speed, at scale and within tight budgets. This shows no signs of abating, meaning that the role of tech to support and grow the industry is more critical than ever before. Our technology is already providing answers to some of these urgent problems and we are seeing forward-thinking care homes beginning to embrace tech-led solutions.”
Partnerships director Christopher Denny said: “We are constantly investing in the latest technology to be able to offer new services to care providers and ease their pain points. The Care Show is a great opportunity to increase awareness of this and to also encourage the UK care system towards greater adoption of technology across social care.”
The Care Show is at Birmingham’s NEC on October 11th and 12th.
