Safeguarding is a huge part of my job as I work in the community meeting other professionals like district nurses, and I realised the importance of multi-agency working and of sharing information. I also know how to do dressings, I worked in an infection ward were nursing assistant were trained to do dressings. I know infection control precautions, since in my ward we cared for TB patients, skin cancer, eczema, we have been more diligent in checking vital signs and isolating any suspected cases immediately and enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)as per Trust and Public health England infection prevention and control guidance. I have a passion for building dynamic work relationship and functioning exceptionally well as part of a team. This enables me to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues’ patients and family. I understand the importance of working with the multidisciplinary team and practising evidence- based practice hence ensuring that the best nursing care is always delivered. I also know the importance of treating patients as individuals ensuring that patients have up to date tailored care plans. I also have the desire to learn and continuously develop within my role. I understand the importance of promoting care that puts patient at the centre, involving patients, their families in decisions to make informed choices about their care and treatment. I understand the importance of adhering to policy and procedures as it is vital to have good knowledge of relevant legislation. I have cared for patients from different cultures and backgrounds which highlights the importance of meeting cultural needs when giving care. I have received positive feedback from my colleagues concerning my enthusiasm to learn new skills and working effectively as an individual and within a team. Through my training and working with different professionals I have adopted the skill of being flexible, as with nursing circumstances change at any given time and there is a need to work under pressure. Throughout my training of level 5 in health and social care. I have learnt the importance of adhering to policy and guidelines such as hospital policy and NMC code of conduct when giving care. I also learnt to maintain my professional knowledge and competence and have a responsibility to deliver care on current evidence, best practice and validated research.
