In that time, I have worked in various care settings looking after different kind of people with varied care needs. I have great experience in elderly care, young people from disadvantaged families, people with learning disability (young and adults), people with mental disabilities, physical disabilities and also young adults leaving care. In my experiences, I have in particular liked working with our senior citizens; I enjoy listening to theirs life experiences if they want to share these; I also love that I’m making a difference in their lives, helping them to live comfortably the way they choose to. I’m always conscious that given a chance to choose their health status, everyone would choose to be healthy and independent. I respect every person’s choices. I have great communication skills, both verbal and non verbal; I have great observational skills; I’m a great companion and I’m great at reading other people’s non verbal language- for instance one person might love to chat while someone else might prefer their own company. I manage my clients home and personal spaces well, keeping in mind their preferences. I’m fairly good cook. Generally I am a positive person with a lot of positive energy for daily tasks and I’m always encouraging my clients to do the things they are able to do. I create an environment of teamwork with my clients and other people involved in the clients care. To be great carer, it comes from the heart. I’m am a great care; In my years of working as a carer have met many good people/ families of clients some of whom are still friends.
