I have always been involved with caring for people who are vulnerable from my first years of working with both adults and children who had special needs, physical and mental disabilities to changing my path to care and support elderly clients or those recovering from operations and illnesses to end of life to help people to remain in their own home. I have experience from companionship to caring for people with dementia and the challenges that that may bring. I enjoy working with multi disciplinary teams to deliver care and I have also been responsible for managing teams of carers in a placement if needed such as in 24 hour care. I'm very happy to accompany clients on outings, appointments etc if public transport or other means is available and appropriate. I have my UK drivers licence for an automactic. I'm looking for daily/nightly care but will consider a week or two for respite live in. I'm happy to travel for example to London from Kent if the hours are for longer periods i.e a day and/or sleeper duty/nights or respite live-in. Happy to accompany you should you want to go on holiday and need a companion or need someone to accompany you to your destination to join others. The rates displayed are a guide line and the basis for Monday to Friday day rates. Weekends are usually a little more per hour and also bank holidays will be charged at a double rate. Rates open for discussion ie if 24 hour live out cover is required then the rate could be lower. I love to travel and are very interested in other cultures, the arts, sport......love watching sport. Love the outdoors especially being by the coast. I enjoy cooking and food so are capable of producing nutritious meals. Shopping running errands. Happy to do light housework and even mow the lawn if needed. I've been described as laid back but able to step up when needed. Firm but fair. Fun with humour and more than capable. I am 52 years old and I have been working as a Mental Health Nurse for 20 years now in a Private Mental Health hospital in London and prior to qualified in 2005 I worked for the same company for about 5 years. My main experience is with people suffering from depression, anxiety, dementia , Eating disorders, alcohol and drug additions and more. I moved to Broadstairs for a quieter life by the sea 5 years ago and was still commuting to London until 2 years ago when I decide to find a job around here and I am now working in a Care Home. The hardest thing in my present job is that I don’t get the chance to spend any time with my poor residents who often feel lonely but because of the nature of the job I always have to rush because our medication rounds are endless. The other issue is that I have to work long days of 12 hours which doesn’t always fit around my family life as I have a 14 years old daughter and a lovely 5 years old Cockapoo and I need more flexible hours.
