When she sadly passed away I started working for a home care agency around Leeds in 2009. I worked with lots of different service users with varying needs and discovered my passion for care work. I went on to support an individual with complex needs on a 24 hour package needing 1on 1 care. I left this job to have my daughter and when I returned to work it was with a different agency doing home care but also supporting service users with additional needs such as PEG and nippy breathing equipment etc. After a year in this job I became a senior care assistant for that agency responsible for staff training and support, ensuring care quality through regular care reviews and staff spot checks whilst also been available to cover unstaffed calls and delivering paper work and PPE. I recently stepped down from this role to allow myself more flexibility in my work life and to pursue other job opportunities, spend more time with my family and re engage with my ongoing education. I have over 12 years experience in home care work and have worked with many adults with varying needs ranging from MS, motor neurone disease, dementia, stroke, elderly, care, spinal injury etc. I love my job and making a difference in people’s lives. I am hardworking and conscientious, work in a person centred way with a service users needs and safety as my top priority. I am used to working under pressure, alone and part of a team. I strive to deliver my best to each and every person I support at work. I have a full clean uk driving licence. I have my level 2 apprenticeship in adult social care and my level 3 diploma in adult care - lead adult care worker. I am double vaccinated and take twice weekly LFT tests as part of my obligations to my job. I have worked throughout the pandemic supporting service users and staff with service user safety as a top priority therefore I am aware of the importance of ppe and following all government guidance when it comes to protecting myself and vulnerable people from coronavirus.
