I’ve worked in nursing and Residential Homes, live in carer in the USA, and became a qualified social worker in the UK and abroad. My experience has enabled me to have a broad knowledge of appropriate care required to maintain individuals in there chosen places of residence. I approach my given assignments holistically reviewing all aspects of the best outcome for the individual and the extended family members who are actively involved in supporting the individual with decision making. I feel I am a rounded, grounded with a wide experience not just with hands on care, but with multidisciplinary agencies having worked in communities for older adults. Caring for others has become a very personal task for me, having cared for my own sister who passed away at the age of 52, and 12 months later my father who I also cared for passed away. I believe this is more than a job, I am placed in a position of trust, trusted by families to provide the very best care for there loved ones, truthful at all cost, show courtesy at all time, manage challenging aspects of the role placed in and acknowledge areas which become unmanageable. I once owned my own day centre for the elderly two years before Covid 19, I was deeply perturbed by the local authorities decision to close all day centres in my city. This left the elderly, alone, isolated, depressed some with no social intervention or interaction each day. My professionalism is an important factor to me and therefore I go above and beyond for others in my role.
