In my younger years, I was an education welfare officer for the local authority. I took voluntary redundancy after 20 years and started running my own business, as well as volunteering as an art therapist at Teesside Hospice. I then went to Australia for 5 years, where I helped a friend with Quadrip...More In my younger years, I was an education welfare officer for the local authority. I took voluntary redundancy after 20 years and started running my own business, as well as volunteering as an art therapist at Teesside Hospice. I then went to Australia for 5 years, where I helped a friend with Quadriplegia achieve his objectives and travel around Europe. I came back to the UK in April 2021 and took up a position as a live-in carer in Wiltshire for 18months. After this I became a Personal Assistant and carer for a paraplegic gentleman in Northampton. I'm trained in manual evacuation, sterile changing of dressings, care of suprapubic and lifting and handling. I would now prefer to work within a couple of hours' drive from home in Durham or York. Any client will find me friendly, reliable, honest, and caring. My aim is to care for a person in the same way I would like to be cared for when it's my turn. I have a holistic approach to my work. I can cook meals from around the world but also very happy and able to turn out simple tasty British cuisine. I have my own car and a clean driving licence. My enhanced DBS is up to date, too. My previous clients and their families would be happy to provide references, as would my previous employers. I'm very happy to be considered for emergency relief work if needed.
