 KT12 2RB 80273 Hello, some information on what I have been doing for the last four years - I was previously employed as a carer for a very frail lady in South Africa, mainly as her companion and driver, taking her to appointments and best of all, coffee dates. I arrived in the UK in June 2020 at the start of the lockdown due to Covid, at the beginning of my caring career in the UK I initially worked as a live-in carer in the Oxford area for some months, after which I decided to change to domiciliary caring and at the same time moved to Walton on Thames from Bristol as I wanted to be close to my daughters, one of whom lives in Walton and the other in London. I was full time employed as a domiciliary Carer through an Agency in Ashford for about a year and a half which is where I did a large proportion of my training at the same time have enjoyed meeting many lovely clients, who at times were challenging but we ended up being good friends and we both looked forward to our regular visits. Since leaving the agency environment I changed to a more self-employed way of working in the domiciliary caring industry in and around Walton, Weybridge, and Cobham, though have found myself visiting and driving clients as far as Leatherhead and Croydon. Delivered at-home care to 2 aged clients in their home • Monitor and record the general health of clients, including taking blood pressure and ensuring that all daily medication is administered. • Identified serious vulnerabilities and escalated to relevant professionals as needed. • Providing support with domestic tasks in the home • Sensitive assistance with personal care routines, such as dressing and bathing • Supporting and administering medication as per procedures. • Encourage exercises as needed • Assist with mobility issues and transfers using appropriate equipment. • Prepare meals as required and support with feeding and hydration. • Ensure safe mobility around the home • Provide companionship and emotional support Skills • Time management: Meticulously followed planned schedules for all tasks, including travel times to ensure all clients received care without delay. • Hygiene and health and safety: Worked in compliance with applicable regulations with a special focus on ensuring clients were advised on safety in the home. • Confidentiality: Strictly observed all GDPR requirements for clients’ personal data. • Communication: Built a good rapport with clients to offer genuine and therapeutic social interaction. Why I Became a Carer I became a carer after my mother died having suffered from dementia and arthritis.
