I am originally from Manchester and have been living in South Africa for 39 years, my experience in caring ranges from being a companion to personal care, manoeuvring and handling, caring for patients with dementia, Alzheimers, and ability to counselling in certain areas, through various church organizations in South Africa. I believe I have the necessary attributes of being an effective carer, eg, compassion, empathy, and have a sympathetic nature. I have basic cooking skills for old English cooking. I am a good listener and have a copious amount of patience. When starting with a new client I prefer to have a settling in period where I get to know the clients needs and there routines and sleeping patterns, once this has been established I than discuss with the clients family members/ representatives the period of care I can deliver. I have a full UK driving licence and I have experience of driving clients own vehicles this can be manual and automatic. I have completed the Care certificate which includes the 15 standards: Understand your role Your personal development Duty of care Equality and diversity Work in a person centred way Communication Privacy and dignity Fluids and nutrition Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities Safeguarding adults Safeguarding children Basic life support Health and safety Handling information Infection prevention and control
