I have found it very fulfilling and pleasant to be able to help people in my care lead independent, comfortable and fulfilling lives and to cope with difficult situations. Over the years, I have acquired experience working with adults, children and young people with autism and other disabilities, ranging from mild to severe challenging behaviours. I have worked extensively in various psychiatric wards and rehabilitation units in Central and North West London, as a personal assistant to a couple in Woking Surrey, with young adults with learning disabilities in NHS units and later at the Haven- a disabled children and young people's respite unit , in addition to working on an outreach basis with some of the children from the unit as well as others. In addition to the above, I endeavour to be a good role model, leading by example and conduct myself in a respectful manner as well as being supportive and helpful to my colleagues. I also practice professionalism and transparency at all times with emphasis to confidentiality, honesty and integrity and encourage others to do the same. I am very flexible and always try and avail myself to the needs of the service. I am aware of of the importance of anti-oppressive practice, non-judgemental attitude and anti-discriminatory practice when dealing with anyone in my care and their families and always be sensitive to their needs. I am a mature, caring and patient, confident person of pleasant character, who is able to work and interact with most people. I'm a dedicated hard worker who pays attention to detail, can work well under pressure and without supervision and is able to use own initiative. I am able to deal with and assist in difficult and challenging situations and have had the relevant training over the years. I have the potential to do more to help vulnerable people and improve the quality of their lives. I am a versatile worker who enthusiastically welcomes any opportunity to improve my skills. I'm am also very much computer literate which is an asset in report writing and other recording processes.
