I have gained theoretical and practical experience of caring for a disabled or chronically unwell person, experience of working with mental illness and a good understanding of different illness and disabilities and how these impacts on the individual’s life. I am an adaptable, conscientious, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with experience of implementing personal support plans which focus on the individual’s welfare, needs, wants and interests. In my current role I am responsible for caring and supporting clients with physical and mental disabilities. This involves assistance with daily living tasks such as personal care and mobility as directed in the care plan. I also undertake escort duties and encourage clients to participate in social events and gentle physical activities. I have the understanding of clients group and of the principles of equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice. I also understand that older people aspire to independence, autonomy, choice, keeping active, and feeling included and being in control of their own lives, therefore working with them and promoting this way of life is one of the ways to develop support networks and permit their independence. I am punctual, committed and hardworking and keen to find a challenging position within a caring organisation where I will be able to continue to increase my work experience and develop my abilities.
