I have worked with the elderly, mainly those with Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis and young adults with various disabilities such as ADHD, Autism, Challenging behaviour ,Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Down’s Syndrome just to mention a few. I also have experience in rehabilitation (stroke) as I have worked with patients who have had brain and spinal injuries and those who suffer from dementia and have helped them assimilate back to normal living. I currently work at (NHS) as a bank maternity support staff caring for expectant mothers from antenatal, both normal delivery and Caesarean section through to post-natal. The skills I have acquired in my different roles include empathy; understanding the feelings and emotions of others and understanding, patience; reducing stress on others and myself also avoid situations from escalating or getting worse, organisational skills; set tasks according to their priorities and time management, communication and support.
