I loved my role as I felt I made a difference to people's lives daily....More Hi I'm Michele, I am a wife and have 2 grown up children. I have been a carer for 20 years and during this time I have gained a wide variety of skills. My first caring job was in the community working as a home carer. I loved my role as I felt I made a difference to people's lives daily. My next role was in supported living again the same rewarding role just less driving. During this position my compassion and care I shown to the residents was noticed by a daughter who regularly visited her mum. She was a manager of a day centre for people with disabilities and approached me to join as a support worker. During my ten years there I gained more skills and knowledge. I have worked with people with the following: Dementia, MS, AS, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, motor neurone disease, learning difficulties, autism, blind, deafness, loss of limbs and many more. I loved my job especially taking the members on holidays and day trips. Once again I was approached by a family member to help their son live independently in his new flat and this is my current role. He is a wheelchair user with cerebral palsy. This role involves me using moving equipment. I work along side 3 other carer's to help him live independently. Michele was able to provide cover to support my disabled partner during the summer for when our existing care company had staffing issues and was unable to help. I am delighted to highly recommend Michele. Her communication was excellent. She is professional, caring and friendly and we felt very comfortable welcoming her into our home.
