Understanding dementia with alzheimer's society

RH1 6NT 100545 I have worked as a carer for the last 6 years. I am compassionate, kind and patient and have enjoyed making a positive difference in the lives of the people I have been fortunate to care for. I have worked with people with dementia, anxiety and depression. I understand the importance of listening and working at the pace the individuals are comfortable with, to ensure that all of my engagement is positive and supportive and, most importantly, in the best interests of the client. I enjoy helping clients feel their best, and recognise that it means a great deal to some, especially to promote confidence, which often lessens in later life. I worked with one lady for over two years, through Covid, and liaising closely with her family I helped co-ordinate a small outdoor gathering for her 80th birthday. I helped her with her hair and clothes and provided all of the reassurance she needed to relax and enjoy her day reuniting with close family. She had a wonderful time and the family have expressed their gratitude to me for that special day. This lady I cared for sadly passed away in June last year following ill health and several months in a nursing home. I visited her frequently in her nursing home and spent time with her and her family during the very difficult final days. In addition to being able to provide the varying practical support required such as eating, cooking, personal care, cleaning and administrative support, I also have a full clean driving licence and very much enjoy taking clients out for outings and to meet friends. Providing companionship and helping my clients to enjoy their day to day lives as much as possible is very rewarding. I have had very positive feedback from the families I have supported and I want to build upon that experience in my future roles. I love to read and very much enjoy being out in nature. I like to go on walks with my family and discover new places. Like cooking, would be lovely to get clients involved in it as well. At the minute I am available Tuesday -Wednesday most of the day. Can work on Bank Holiday.( time and a half ) Would love to work with more mobile clients as have more experience so feel would be more beneficial to the client. Please do get in touch with me as I would very much like to hear from you. 0 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":true,"field_care_type_second":"1","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":true,"field_care_type_third":"1","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":true,"field_care_type_fourth":"1","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":true,"field_care_type_sixth":"1","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

Rh15ap 42540 Hi I am new to 'caring' on its own. I am a retired paramedic and prior to that worked in nursing homes from the age of 16. I have a part time job as a school mini bus driver so looking for flexible work around this job. I have gained much experience in my 29 years for Surrey ambulance service (secamb) with a wide range of skills - many transferable in the care/home setting. I consider myself friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour. I enjoy meeting people and happy to put my hand to anything. I enjoy getting out and about visiting places of interest or simply a country side walk. Indoors, I'm not the best cook in the world but enjoy food. I love watching films (always have a movie on whilst in my sewing room). I also enjoy quiz shows and playing board games. {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":"0","field_care_type_first":null,"field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":"0","field_care_type_second":null,"field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":"0","field_care_type_third":null,"field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":"0","field_care_type_fourth":null,"field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":"0","field_care_type_fifth":null,"field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":"0","field_care_type_sixth":null,"field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":"0","field_care_type_seven":null}

CR3 5TH 9205 Hi my name Francis but I like to go by Frank. I have over 14 years experience in the care industry, I’ve worked with many different vulnerable age groups from children to adults with varied needs and find this work very rewarding. I have cared for female and male clients. I have business insurance for my car so can take clients out for for the day. I’m friendly, caring and compassionate about supporting others around me that might need help. Meeting the needs of others through care and enabling their independence as long as possible keeps me smiling! I have experience in many different areas of care work and would be willing to work with young adults and children as well as older clients. I am experienced and qualified in - catheter care, peg feeding, medication administration via peg, dementia care, moving and handling, general medication administration, health and safety, general care of vulnerable adults and safe guarding. I also have experience in assessing care needs and building care plans. I am very competent in the kitchen and able to cook meals efficiently. Due to health reasons I have been advised by medical professionals not to have the covid 19 vaccines, instead I do lateral flow tests everyday and make sure I wear full ppe when caring for clients. I have a full clear UK driving licence which i have held for over 14 years. I am currently only doing hourly day care. I cannot work weekends due to family commitments. I am willing to travel up to 7 miles for daytime work. I am outgoing, physically fit and enjoy many outdoor activities like fishing, skating, climbing, and just being outside in nature. I have 2 young children who I love to take out and spend time with. Please contact me if you sense I’ve got the skills & qualities of the type of person you need to meet your person centred needs as this is something I highly value, being person centred based on each individual’ needs! 0 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

CR5 1DX 199089 My name is Stellah and I have been a career/ support worker since I was 18 years old . What makes a good career is good communication skills, the fact that careers meet individuals from different backgrounds with diverse health issues which could impair their ability to be able to communicate, interacting clearly with clients who could have individual needs. This will contribute effectively on working practices. I will always involve the clients family and close friends regarding any important information they need to know about the client. For example feed back from the doctors or other concerns. Good communication with colleagues could also contribute positively in ensuring that clients receive good standards of care. Passion,!this is the most important quality of a care worker, skills and training are paramount to maintain the high working standards. Although the passion and helping those who are in need makes the real difference. I have worked with individuals with learning difficulties, Autistic, Challenging behaviour, Dementia, Epileptic and other health issues. I have good communication skills which has helped me to communicate effectively with clients. I'm very caring and show empathy towards clients I have always taking care of, I like cooking to make sure that my clients eat healthy and maintaining a balanced diet., assisting them with personal care in order to maintain good personal hygiene, I also like doing other chores which include cleaning, laundry and also assisting clients with different activities going to day centres and college or personal shopping. Am very out going and am always there when my clients need company. Am pursuing my degree in public health and social care this will help me to contribute positively to the support and services I will be delivering to all my clients. Sense of humour, putting a smile on the client’s face can relieve a lot of tension and could be the best medicine, the fact that clients can be suffering from serious health issues which should be treated professionally but making them smile would make a difference to their physical and mental wellbeing. Empathy as a care worker it is very important to put yourself in the client’s shoes, what you would feel if you were in their situation? How you exactly react? Trying to imagine yourself in such situations allows you to have a better understanding of the clients mindset and their behaviours and this would help you to be able to provide the support that the clients need. Positivity, as a career I will be at the clients front line, and I will be facing the clients health challenges with them, and I could also build a close relationships with them which might be difficult at times to see them suffer or in pain. It is my duty as a carer to stay strong and positive during the difficult times, It can be contagious to support the clients in facing such hardships more effectively. {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

CR51QT 186005 My name is Sarah and I have been a carer for 8 years to people with learning disabilities. I then went on to do my nurse training in mental health and further study in public health nursing. I have decided to become a personal assistant/ carer again as I've realised that I love this type of work most and enjoy making a difference in people's lives. I recently gave up my full time post as a public health nurse to care for my father who had dementia. Unfortunately he passed away due to covid but I actually loved spending this time with him and although this was cut short it has made me understand what I really want to do with my career now and become a carer again. I have gained many skills and knowledge over the past 20 years working with the NHS. My background is mostly working with people in mental health, learning difficulties, and dementia care. I am very hard working and will support anyone as if they are my own family and recognise peoples needs are very unique and tailor my approach to care on a very individual basis. I have two children aged 10 and 14 one of which has a mental health condition. I love to go for long walks, cycle and run. I enjoy travelling when able to and I also like gardening. 2 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}
