I have experience with administration of medication, catheter emptying/bag changing as well as hoisting. Depending on the clients’ specifications, I am comfortable using a hoist solo or if required with another individual. I am capable in the kitchen and would be able to prepare meals if required. I have a willingness to learn new skills and I am not afraid of new challenges. My son has recently been diagnosed with Autism. This has given me the understanding of the struggles people have that are not always obvious. It has also made me a more patient individual with the ability to understand and empathise when an individual is struggling mentally as well as physically. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances I had to pause my role as a community carer to be a stay-at-home mum during the pandemic. I have 20+ years experience as a carer / support worker / companion, starting in a Mental health unit, for both adults & Elderly. I ran groups in Cooking , gardening, relaxation , art & crafts & took patients on outings. I have experience working with Adults with Dementia, Anxiety and depression & other Mental health conditions. My job was to monitor patients mental health & wellbeing & to support all their needs. I also have experience as a caregiver/ companion. This was to go to clients homes & help with personal care, washing & dressing. Administer medication , make meals , any household duties & shopping. Or to sit & chat with the client. To accompany to appointments with the client or to assist them with outdoor activities etc . I have also worked with Adults with learning disabilities. Provided all personal care , feeding , making food, laundry and going on outings to appointments or activities. I will make sure that the person I am caring for will receive kindness, compassion, understanding, patience & a person they can trust.
