I believe patience and fully understanding a client's needs helps in providing a more comfortable life. I have experience in personal grooming, hygiene, dressing, toileting and cooking. I have missed working with the elderly and now my children are at University. I have the opportunity to return to caring. I enjoy history. current affairs, sewing, cooking and tending my small vegetable garden. I prefer to have my clients more mobile and do not require hoisting. As I do not drive I am looking for clients through out the day to have longer hours of 5/10 hours shifts or within travelling distance of Accrington. As she progressed with age, I was also becoming a young woman,I could realise she was getting tired and I would offer to do anything for her, so I became a Carer without knowing. I loved reading novels and my grandmother enjoyed listening to me read out loud ,it became our Saturday night activity as I wouldn’t be going to school the following day. On Sundays we would walk to church and back for the fact that granny believed in keeping her muscles moving . Walking with my grandmother taught me to listen as she always had a tale to tell, Sundays became my favourite days as I was always looking forward to listening to another story. When I became a Professional Carer , that’s when I realised how much my childhood impacted in my life, I empathise with everyone I care for, I listen to them and participated in any activities they enjoy. Caring for elderly or anyone who needs my help gives me a purpose in life. In my spare time I like to exercise ,cook, watch movies or read. I have been a Professional Carer for the past nine years, cared for individuals with Dementia, Parkinson's,Epileptic,Physical disabilities ,COPD, Stroke,Palliative care. Started caring in a Nursing home for two and a half years ,moved to Supported living with young adults transitioning to adulthood from 2010 to 2015 . 2015 - 2017 worked with The Good Care Group as a Live-in Professional Carer supporting elderly with various conditions in their own homes. August 2017 my aunt had a stroke and I had to give up work and care for her. October 2018 she passed away, November 2018 I started working with Elder Care as a Live in Carer supporting elderly. As a Carer I have acquired various certificates including, Care Certificate, First Aid,Moving and Handling, Mental Health awareness Level 2 to mention a few. We live in the rural village of Egerton & enjoy exploring the local countryside. I enjoy cooking, and keeping fit by visiting the gym regularly. I’ve enjoyed my role as a Care worker for over 10 years, caring for service users with various needs, mainly caring for the elderly, assisting with personal care & general housekeeping duties such as preparing meals, cleaning, shopping & laundry. I’ve also cared for adults & children with severe disabilities & medical conditions including encephalitis dementia, cancer, & for those who have suffered a stroke & adults who have mental health conditions, and for those who required care at the end of their life whilst additionally offering my full support & compassion to their families. I feel I have always offered a sensitive approach to all of those I’ve cared for, always ensuring their needs are met in a kind and dignified manner. I’ve always enjoyed my role as a Care worker, meeting so many individuals & families who I’ve built up a rapport with & being able to care for them in their own home whilst always promoting their independence has always given me great job satisfaction - whilst always ensuring each service user’s individual needs are attended to & that their safety and confidentiality remains paramount. I am looking forward to continuing to offer my care experience & expertise to those who should require them.
