I have been working as a carer for almost two years now and I’ve loved it so much so far. I have experience in several areas such as hoisting, physical assistance, multiple sclerosis and many other conditions I’ve listed in my profile. The thing I love the most about the job is being able to ask my clients how to make them a little more comfortable and how to make their day a little easier. The rewarding nature of the job keeps me motivated and willing to go the extra mile to make my clients happy. I am very compassionate and understanding of any situation and I am happy to lend a listening ear whenever it is needed. I thrive to always deliver the best care I can and to always put my client to the top of my priority. 0 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":true,"field_care_type_first":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":true,"field_care_type_second":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":true,"field_care_type_third":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":true,"field_care_type_fourth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":true,"field_care_type_fifth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":true,"field_care_type_sixth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":true,"field_care_type_seven":"1, 4, 5"}

BN3 5RA 60825 A strong calm sensitive person who enjoys helping adult and elderly people live the best life they are able. Reliable,kind and gentle and able to adapt to the needs of my client. Learns quickly what help a person needs and able to assist them to organise their lives to include trips to beauty spots and tea out. Good ability to liaise with other professionals to get the support they need, whether from gp, optician, dentist, or social services. I can also drive them to appointments. I find out what meals they enjoy most and make sure they have as wide a variety as possible of fruits and vegetables. I enjoy cooking and am able to cook meat based traditional meals and plant based wholegrain meals. When I cook roast chicken, I make many meals afterwards, including soup from the bones. I was brought up on a market garden and enjoy helping in the garden. I love nature and the countryside, music, Art, books, reading aloud, poetry and crossword puzzles. I understand the benefit of going out to sit in nature, a concert, or having friends round, and I am happy to facilitate social occasions and make sure they are centred around the person I am caring for. I know how to be in the background but can also be sociable if invited. I have worked as a student nurse in Brighton hospitals for 1.5 years, as a domicilliary carer in Brighton for 2 years and in a care home in Hove for 2 years and have been a live-in carer for 8 years. I have looked after a gentleman who had Alzheimers, from diagnosis, as his live-in carer until he had to go into a care home because his house was unsuitable when he could no longer walk. His family are happy to give me a reference. I have been a live-in carer helping a woman walk again with rehabilitation exercises given by a physiotherapist. Also looked after a woman after she had had a hip operation, helping with exercises and going for walks. As a qualified Shiatsu practitioner (dip Shiatsu massage) and a Reiki practitioner and teacher of many years, people find my presence very calming and reassuring. I like to laugh and see the humour in most things and am able to laugh at myself. I am calm in a crisis and have done first aid training many times. I worked as a volunteer in Brighton in St John's ambulance service for over a year. I believe that healthy people, if behaving responsibly and testing very regularly, should be able to choose whether or not to have the Covid vaccination, and I am not going to have the vaccination at present. I protect my health rigorously and test regularly. I do not work with people with extremely challenging or aggressive behaviour but understand everyone, especially if they have a debillitating illness, need to express their frustration at times. I generally only work with couples if they have very few complex care needs. 0 2 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

BN3 3HT 5996 I am a youthful individual in my 60s. I prefer to be called Nick. My journey in Care began in November 2015 and here I am today, looking forward to making a positive impact to people’s quality of life. SNAPSHOT  Name: Nikolaos (Nick) K  Care Experience: Since Nov. 2015.  Origin: Greek parentage, raised in South Africa  Nationality: Dual - British and Greek passports  Languages: Fluent English and Greek  Driver: UK Driving License but don’t currently own a car (Driven mobility vehicles)  DBS: Enhanced, on the Update Service  Relationship: Married, English partner and two daughters  Cooking: Competent in preparing simple, tasty and nutritious meals  Smoker: No  Pets: Comfortable with all animals  References: Excellent  Hobbies and Interests: The Humanities and Arts (history, archaeology, music) board and card games, documentaries and live sports on TV (football, tennis, athletics, snooker), reading, staying fit About me I began as a domiciliary carer, a great start gaining invaluable experience, skills and self-knowledge while dealing with a range of medical cases and personalities in various settings and finding that I could be discreet or hands-on according to circumstances. I found the work engaging and rewarding then, just as I do now. Eventually, I joined a PAYE live-in care company and later transitioned to self-employment. I have looked after individuals with dementia, cerebral palsy, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, frailty, limited mobility, multiple sclerosis and spinal injuries. I am confident in hoisting, catheter care and assisting with personal care needs. Mindful of my responsibility in caring for vulnerable individuals in their own home, I keep house clean and safe as if my own. I am also aware that I may be interacting with family members who have their loved one’s best interests at heart. I can say that I am laid-back and low profile but proactive with a can-do attitude. In general, I am calm, patient, conscientious, attentive, trustworthy, reliable and communicative. Background My parents were Greek. I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where I attended the University of the Witwatersrand to study Public Administration and International Relations. I returned to Greece in my early 20s where I subsequently met my wife, who is English. We have two adult daughters who live in Sussex and we split our time between Greece and England. Before joining the UK care sector, I worked in the airline industry for 30 years, including 17 years at British Airways in mostly customer service roles. I have also worked as a literary translator and as a CELTA-qualified English language teacher. I now take pleasure in providing care. That is a brief overview. Feel free to ask any questions. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to be of help. BN1 5PA 202751 My name is Giuseppe, I am a 38 years old, I am Italian and have been living and working in Brighton for the past 15 years. I love sports, especially climbing, beach volleyball and ping pong, cooking and have a passion for music and filmmaking. Friendly, fun and professional, with excellent communication skills, and an approachable personality that people respond well to. I have developed integrity, tact and diplomacy in dealing with people, demonstrating patience and good listening skills to identify the needs of others. I am well travelled and have a broad skill base built up over a number of years working alongside people of all ages and of differing levels of ability. I am patient and can remain calm when faced with challenging behaviour. There have been numerous occasions when it has been important for me to quickly build rapport with vulnerable people and with those who display behaviour which challenges some people. I have acquired the ability to work on my own initiative, using my personal skills, engaging and relating well to people of all ages, ethnicity and background. I have been trained to respond calmly, quickly and appropriately to emergencies or problems and to follow guidelines and procedures as set out by my employer. In my current job as Support Worker I work within a large team to achieve a shared goal or outcome in an effective way, actively listening to other members of the team, supporting struggling team mates and generally working and communicating with positivity. I have worked well within a team but also have shown the skills, resourcefulness and motivation to work on my own using my initiative and creativity. I have the personal resilience and the right skills to see problems as challenges, make the right choice and learn and develop from my experiences. I have also successfully communicated and liaised with many multidisciplinary teams such as speech and language therapists, behaviour support teams, community learning disability team (CLDT), psychiatrists, physios, as well as many other health services, using telephone, emails, or in person. My role as support worker can be defined as supporting six vulnerable young adults in the autistic spectrum with challenging behaviours who are continuously at significant risk of harm because of their complex needs. I have proved to be dealing calmly while making decisions during unpredictable and challenging situations, showing respect and treating people with dignity at all times. Having great problem solving skills, creativity and emotional intelligence enabled me to analyse the situation quickly and to make solid decisions during those complex circumstances. During my 13 years of experience working with people with learning difficulties I have always kept a non-confrontational approach, choosing to discuss difficult issues and finding common ground and a workable solution to differences of opinion, and adapted the way I communicate to the needs of the individual. Working as Personal Assistant/Respite Worker with a teenager with FASD (Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and other related issues, for example, I have learnt to communicate using calm soft voice, indirect command, consistent and concise language, giving clear, short sequential directions and instructions, follow up to check his understanding, leaving time and pauses to help him process information, responding to developmental rather than chronological age when stressed. I have been working with him for the past 4 years by now, providing a playful, flexible, calm, consistent presence to help him feel safe and build a trusted relationship, through which he can practice social skills, physical and emotional regulation, impulse control, problem-solving and conflict avoidance and resolution. I have been helping him avoid social isolation by identifying new opportunities, finding new hobbies and joining social activities which are welcoming and offer a good level of inclusion/integration. I have supported him to establish safe, positive relationships within their community and helped him to achieve more independence and improve on his established life skills. At Club my excellent written and verbal communication skills enabled me to support a wide range of people including unaccompanied asylum seekers who were initially not able to speak English, young people in care, elderly people, children/adults with persistent behavioural difficulties and those with learning difficulties. I have worked for about 7 years as Head Coach and have run table tennis sessions independently or with other coaches/volunteers for large groups of players in schools and in prisons; I have been on a number of residential trips with groups of disenfranchised young people and I have attended four trips to Sweden and Germany with a team of adults with learning disabilities as part of an Erasmus+ exchange project encouraging cultural exchange and providing opportunities for players with disabilities. Through my work at Club I have shown that I can engage people of any background, age, nationality or social standing. I have also demonstrated great organisational skills by planning and organising sessions and programmes to meet individual’s needs and guide their development. I have also worked as Personal Assistant with 3 young adults with with Downs Syndrome and a range of additional needs from October 2014 to January 2018, helping the young people access stimulating recreational and sports activities, ensuring they carried out activities safely, and acting as a motivational role-model, providing them with an understanding of what are acceptable modes of behaviour. I recognise the need for people in need to have continuity of care and therefore maintaining regular sessions of support and I am aware that good timekeeping and reliability are essential. I have successfully achieved an High School Diploma in Information Technology and I have a great passion for cinematography and post production work. I have been working in this industry for the past 5 years and I enjoy directing, filming and editing short films and documentaries. I use my IT skills daily in my current job to communicate with colleagues, management and other different multidisciplinary teams, review and update care plans, completing mandatory training courses etc. I am now keen to apply my skills and experience to a new challenge.  Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about how I can put my skills to work for you. BN41 2TA 13946 Hello! My name is Shelley and I started my career in care when I was 17 working in a nursery setting, I achieved my Level 2 in child care and education before moving in to residential care for adolescents aged 12-16 where I achieved my level 3 in social care. From this I moved to elderly care and have been working as a palliative carer for Alzheimer’s and dementia and cancer patients. I have two daughters who are aged 22 and 19 and I am also a young grandmother to two beautiful children. I am very family oriented and enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy going out for walks in the countryside, cooking various cuisines and listening to music. I am friendly and compassionate and take pride in caring for others. I recently worked privately for a family and I was the main care giver to a husband and wife who both sadly had Alzheimer’s and dementia, I cared for the wife right up to her last days then continued to care for her husband until his passing. The family became an extension of my own family which is what I love about my career path. I am a compassionate and experienced home carer with a passion for helping others. As a female carer with a wealth of experience in providing care to individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment, Parkinson's Disease, bedbound patients, and those coping with anxiety and depression, I am dedicated to ensuring the well-being and comfort of those under my care. With a knack for providing personalized assistance in activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, dressing, catheter care, and emotional support through companionship, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients. One of my key attributes as a carer is my ability to drive, and I am fortunate to own a car, enabling me to provide reliable transportation for my clients to medical appointments, social outings, and other activities. Beyond my professional skills, I bring a warm and friendly presence to my caregiving approach, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for those I care for. In my free time, I enjoy hobbies such as walking, playing card games, cooking and baking, decorating, and socializing with friends and loved ones, all of which contribute to my well-rounded approach as a carer. My motivation for caregiving stems from a deep-seated desire to help people lead independent and fulfilling lives, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges. I take great pride in my role as a carer and find immense fulfillment in making a positive difference in the lives of those I care for. With a love for animals, including cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, and birds, I bring a nurturing and empathetic approach to my caregiving practice, ensuring that each individual receives the personalized care and attention 0 2 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":true,"field_care_type_first":"1","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":true,"field_care_type_second":"1","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":true,"field_care_type_third":"1","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":true,"field_care_type_fourth":"1","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

BN2 3HE 232732 Hello, I'm Marianne, though most people call me Maz or Mazzy. I am a very experienced carer with over 10 years experience working across domiciliary care, in a care home, and also on a private, personal basis. I have worked with adults of mixed ages but predominantly the older generation. I have a huge respect for older people and I absolutely love helping them live as independently as possible in their own homes. I am compassionate, patient, have a sense of humour (I think/hope), and am a naturally positive person who is often said to have brightened my clients days. I am observant, thorough, proactive, and have a keen eye for detail, so I will always try to go above and beyond to ensure my clients are as comfortable, happy and content as they can be in their given situations. I am a friendly and sociable person and have been told that I'm easy to get along with. I provide kindness to all my clients, and also endeavour to make sure that the dignity of those I'm caring for is preserved. I have extensive hands-on experience in the following aspects of care, and am currently in the process of updating my official certifications for these: Medicine Administration, following Health & Safety, COSHH (handling of chemicals and hazardous substances), Manual Handling, Dementia Care, and more recently completed the Care Certificate. I have a clean Enhanced DBS, a full clean driving licence with Business Insurance and car which I am happy to take you out in. My car is regular height and so easy to get in and out of, and can fit in foldable walking aids and wheelchairs. Petrol milage is additionally charged at 50p per mile. I am also comfortable to escort and assist on trips away if required. I have a wide spectrum of experience from personal care, washing and toilet assistance, to cooking well balanced and nutritional meals, assisting with physio exercises (if given by a certified physiotherapist), taking to appointments, to medicine administration and also palliative care... I feel it is a true honour & privilege to be able to assist a person, and their family, during the end stage of their life. I am comfortable around most animals (no pet spiders though, sorry!), but love almost any other creatures and so am more than happy to assist in looking after these too. I have a huge interest in people, humans really are great! I also love nature, walks, live music, wildlife, poetry, animals, arts, plants, the sky, helping people, jewellery making, crafts, reading. I offer hourly availability, as well as sleep-ins and waking nights. As well as this, I could part-time live-in for just a few days per week, or ad-hoc shorter stints of live-in care if required eg. to cover holidays or respite, so please do get in touch if you have any specific time needs that aren't listed in my profile, it's always worth asking and if I can help then I will. The boring bit (charges & cancellantion explained): -Cancellation policy- unless emergency, minimum 48hrs before scheduled visit. Within 48hrs= half charge. Within 24hrs= full charge). -The minimum visit time is 1hour. I always use the full time to offer help with anything around the house etc, or even just to have a chat, so unless a client really doesn't want or need anything else and says they don't want me there any more, then I always stay until the full arranged time. - If visit time is unpredictable eg. going to appointments, then after the initial hour, time is charged up to the next 15minutes. - mileage when driving clients to places is 50p per mile - for clients located further afield than central Brighton, £1 per mile is charged to allow for travel time. *Please note, I will be unavailable from 15th Feb - 16th March 2025*. BN1 3PL 48544 My Name is Tara. I'm Irish, from the West Coast of Ireland. I have been living in Brighton for nearly five years. I enjoy badminton, gardening, yoga, nature walks, animals, love to cook, have a chat and watch documentaries. Any client I have worked with in the past has always credited my easy to get along with, professional but kind gentle approach. I enjoy providing an amazing service and make sure the client gets a sense of an over all satisfactory care package. I have worked with various age groups from children as young as 4 to adults of 80+ of age with a range of learning, mental health and physical disabilities. Currently I have been supporting adults aged 18+ within communities and in their homes around the Sussex area. My clients have amazing reports to feed back about my level of care. I can provide references on request. I believe in a person centre approach , which means I completely focus on the persons individual needs. I ensure my clients preferences, needs and values are always respected. I understand anxieties and stresses my clients can face and with this ,I've always had a calming, very patient ,friendly, non judgemental, gentle approach with their needs of care. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can Stay Safe :-) Tara {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":"0","field_care_type_first":"0","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":"0","field_care_type_second":"0","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":"0","field_care_type_third":"0","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":"0","field_care_type_fourth":"0","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":"0","field_care_type_fifth":"0","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":"0","field_care_type_sixth":"0","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":"0","field_care_type_seven":"0"}
