I did not intend to do live in care but repeated requests by clients and their families has led to me specialising in Live In and Domiciliary care for over 10 years. I still keep up to date with the practices in other sectors of the care sector, including nursing and care and care in the community, and still work in these environments. I have training and the practical experience in specialist areas, such as special needs, dementia, palliative care and others such as challenging behaviours, self-harm, violent outbursts, danger to the public and Autism and Down Syndromes. I believe we should all work together as it is only then we can create the type of world, most of us wish to live in. My personal life revolves around nay family, which takes up much of my free time, including my son and wife, Granddaughter, nephews, nieces, cousins, and of course my “aunties” and “uncles”, who still offer me advice on anything (or everything) except I am an “auntie” to a few, and am happy to give advice and guidance based on my own experience, life. Myself and a few other African ladies have formed a club and invest resources etc. to help and empower Africans mainly back in Southern Africa, but also abroad to succeed, especially women, and encourage them to do the same for others. I really enjoy my job, because it is rewarding and I get to meet and speak to incredible different people in the community. I had previously worked as a live in carer, And my placement lasted just over a year, as a Personal Assistant. I worked with an elderly, It was a great pleasure caring for my client, who had early and late stage of Dementia, stroke and end of life care. . Some of my duties involved Moving and Handling, e.g. slides sheet, stand aid,slings, catheter care, personal care, home care service, support service with physical and Learning Disabilities, and older people. I also acquired experiences working in a care home, community care service. That involved home visits to clients, prepared meal, medication prompting, assisting with dress / undress, bath / shower, administered or prompted to take medication, domestic duties, assist with mobility and feeding However I am looking for a more stable placement on a one to one Care. I am naturally a caring nature person, who puts venerable individuals at the heart of everything I do. I am compassionate, empathetic, caring, helpful, reliable, responsible and respectful. Especially due to my background. I like to treat each individual with respect, dignity, kindness. I am extremely patience person, good communication skills and I am competent and professional. Assistant with feeding I have worked with vulnerable adults with Dementia, Physical Disabilities, temporarily sick needing bed nursing and/or help with feeding, service user/ clients with Mental Health assisting users/clients through talking to them, taking them out, sharing within activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreations, treating them as an individual’s using Person Cantered.
