He suffered from Alzheimers but remained in family home up to the end of his life. I cared for him, managing his medication, dressing, accompanying him to outings and hospital appointments. On waking my client in the morning with a smile and a cheerful demeanor, is very important, making sure they are ready to proceed with the daily tasks and personal care, having meals and spending time doing what they like, crosswords or puzzles, or just chatting. I would naturally do what is required of me according to the clients care plan, making sure they are taking their medication as indicated. Mostly it will be following my clients lead and always getting their consent and the right to choose if they are mentally capable, but at the same time making sure that I have some down time to rest and do what makes me happy, such as a hobby, reading, a walk. Its necessary for me to have a 2 hour break each day. I am constantly reminded of how fulfilling my job is when I meet individuals and families who I can make a difference to their lives. Naturally, I always find myself doing whatever it takes to ensure the person I am assisting is not only comfortable but also happy in general. I believe that I have a lot of skills to offer, being a younger person too. I have been in care for 4 years and have worked for two agencies during that time. This has meant that over this period of time, I have worked with across multiple homes and with hundreds of individuals allowing me to be able to gain a huge amount of experience as well as mastering the skill of adapting to new environments constantly. I also am very energetic and have a passion for cooking and reading. I have just finished my undergraduate degree in English literature and now plan to take some time out to work before going on to do a masters. I have a lot of free time to offer and can be called on short notice too which I feel is a huge advantage for a client.
