My daily visits consist of personal care, showering, pad change, change from night wear to day wear, apply cream on body, do the beds, breakfast, give or prompt client to take medication as per Mar Chart or blister pack. Use thicker in drinks where needed, make lunch, tea, wash dishes, dry and put them away. Light house work. Put dirty washing in the machine. If client uses the commode or urine bottle, I can assist client to use them. Catheter care. Most importantly, prioritise my day so I can spend more time with the client chatting to them about their life, past history, about the family. What they like doing as a hobby etc. I always tell my client and family when I take care of a client, I always tell them that it's not about how I want thi gs done!! It's about my client and how they want things doing. About me, I love meeting people from all walks of life. Listen to their stories. I love animals and bird watching. Nature out there is so beautiful. I enyou socialising with my family. I have a large family and get together to Celebrate birthdays or any other occasion. I'm a bit of a television addict as I enjoy watching all the soaps, any animal programs. Love listening to radio 4 (The Archers) when I can. I have a fab sense of humour. After years of travelling back and forth to England from South Africa, I settled in the UK in 2014, taking up live in care work mainly in Gloucestershire. I’ve had the privilege of caring for wonderful clients, which has charged me with the ability to be compassionate, empathetic and professional. I have 10 years experience as a carer and I enjoy listening to stories from the elderly people, encouraging them to continue living as independently as they can, while living in their own homes, and happy to work at their own pace. I have experience in personal grooming and I enjoy helping clients look their best. I can assist with hygiene, toileting, eating, cooking, cleaning and any administrative tasks which need support. I have a full clean driving license and enjoy taking clients out to meet friends or just to go for a drive. I have worked with people with dementia, chronic conditions and I have provided end of life care. I provided care for stroke rehabilitation including encouraging client to mobilise as much as possible. I also have experience working with clients suffering from depression and anxiety. I have recently cared for a blind lady for the past 7 years. What a challenge and what a rewarding role it was.
