BN2 3HE 232732 ** Please note, I am away & unavailable from 16th February - 17th March 2025, but please do enquire for any last minute care prior to those dates, or for any long-term care required for after those dates. Thank you.** Hello, I'm Marianne, though most people call me Maz or Mazzy. I am a very experienced carer with over 10 years experience working across domiciliary care, in a care home, and also on a private, personal basis. I have worked with adults of mixed ages but predominantly the older generation. I have a huge respect for older people and I absolutely love helping them live as independently as possible in their own homes. I am compassionate, patient, have a sense of humour (I think/hope), and am a naturally positive person who is often said to have brightened my clients days. I am observant, thorough, proactive, and have a keen eye for detail, so I will always try to go above and beyond to ensure my clients are as comfortable, happy and content as they can be in their given situations. I am a friendly and sociable person and have been told that I'm easy to get along with. I provide kindness to all my clients, and also endeavour to make sure that the dignity of those I'm caring for is preserved. I have extensive hands-on experience in the following aspects of care, and am currently in the process of updating my official certifications for these: Medicine Administration, following Health & Safety, COSHH (handling of chemicals and hazardous substances), Manual Handling, Dementia Care, and more recently completed the Care Certificate. I have a clean Enhanced DBS, a full clean driving licence with Business Insurance and car which I am happy to take you out in. My car is regular height and so easy to get in and out of, and can fit in foldable walking aids and wheelchairs. Petrol milage is additionally charged at 50p per mile. I am also comfortable to escort and assist on trips away if required. I have a wide spectrum of experience from personal care, washing and toilet assistance, to cooking well balanced and nutritional meals, assisting with physio exercises (if given by a certified physiotherapist), taking to appointments, to medicine administration and also palliative care... I feel it is a true honour & privilege to be able to assist a person, and their family, during the end stage of their life. I am comfortable around most animals (no pet spiders though, sorry!), but love almost any other creatures and so am more than happy to assist in looking after these too. I have a huge interest in people, humans really are great! I also love nature, walks, live music, wildlife, poetry, animals, arts, plants, the sky, helping people, jewellery making, crafts, reading. I offer hourly availability, as well as sleep-ins and waking nights. As well as this, I could part-time live-in for just a few days per week, or ad-hoc shorter stints of live-in care if required eg. to cover holidays or respite, so please do get in touch if you have any specific time needs that aren't listed in my profile, it's always worth asking and if I can help then I will. The boring bit (charges & cancellantion explained): -Cancellation policy- unless emergency, minimum 48hrs before scheduled visit. Within 48hrs= half charge. Within 24hrs= full charge). -The minimum visit time is 1hour. I always use the full time to offer help with anything around the house etc, or even just to have a chat, so unless a client really doesn't want or need anything else and says they don't want me there any more, then I always stay until the full arranged time. - If visit time is unpredictable eg. going to appointments, then after the initial hour, time is charged up to the next 15minutes. - mileage when driving clients to places is 50p per mile - for clients located further afield than central Brighton, £1 per mile is charged to allow for travel time. *Please note, I will be unavailable from 15th Feb - 16th March 2025*. Thank you for reading, I look forward to hearing from you, Maz.

BN3 3HT 5996 I am a youthful individual in my 60s. I prefer to be called Nick. My journey in Care began in November 2015 and here I am today, looking forward to making a positive impact to people’s quality of life. My guiding principle is trust. SNAPSHOT  Name: Nikolaos (Nick) K  Care Experience: Since Nov. 2015.  Origin: Born in Greece, raised in South Africa  Nationality: Dual - British and Greek passports  Languages: Fluent English and Greek  Driver: UK Driving License but don’t currently own a car (Driven mobility vehicles)  DBS: Enhanced, on the Update Service  Relationship: Married, English partner and two daughters  Cooking: Competent in preparing simple, tasty and nutritious meals  Smoker: No  Pets: Comfortable with all animals  References: Very good  Hobbies and Interests: The Humanities and Arts (history, archaeology, music) board and card games, documentaries and live sports on TV (football, tennis, athletics, snooker), reading, staying fit About me I began as a domiciliary carer, a great start gaining invaluable experience, skills and self-knowledge while dealing with a range of medical cases and personalities in various settings and finding that I could be discreet or hands-on according to circumstances. I found the work engaging and rewarding then, just as I do now. Eventually, I joined a PAYE live-in care company and later transitioned to self-employment. I have looked after individuals with dementia, cerebral palsy, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, frailty, limited mobility, multiple sclerosis and spinal injuries. I am confident in hoisting, catheter care and assisting with personal care needs. Mindful of my responsibility in caring for vulnerable individuals in their own home, I keep house clean and safe as if my own. I am also aware that I may be interacting with family members who have their loved one’s best interests at heart. I can say that I am laid-back and low profile but proactive with a can-do attitude. In general, I am calm, patient, conscientious, attentive, trustworthy, reliable and communicative. Background My parents were Greek. I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where I attended the University of the Witwatersrand to study Public Administration and International Relations. I returned to Greece in my early 20s where I subsequently met my wife, who is English. We have two adult daughters who live in Sussex and we split our time between Greece and England. Before joining the UK care sector, I worked in the airline industry for 30 years, including 17 years at British Airways in mostly customer service roles. I have also worked as a literary translator and as a CELTA-qualified English language teacher. I now take pleasure in providing care. That is a brief overview. Feel free to ask any questions. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to be of help. BN3 3HT 10861 I have been a carer for six years. I hold an enhanced DBS and I update all my carer training every year. I am English, brought up in Sussex, but have lived, taught (English as a foreign language), raised two daughters in Greece over the past 35 years. I am very energetic, well educated, able to think around things and get things done, love nature and animals, yoga, painting, walking, writing and reading. I speak Greek and am extremely interested in other cultures. I lived and worked as a teacher in Saudi Arabia for a year and a half and I have written several children's books. I follow a plant based diet so I cook dairy free but love cooking generally and can cook excellent Greek, Indian and British food. My success as a carer has been because I am willing, friendly and capable of doing anything I'm required to do.I have had experience with many different clients ranging from those recovering from falls, to early dementia or just companionship and the security of having someone to help with everyday living. I am efficient and able to run a house smoothly. I enjoy looking after any pets or animals that a client may have. I love being outdoors, gardening or walking. I prefer a position that is companionship and light medical, which involves household duties and any shopping. I do drive but prefer not to have unless absolutely necessary, as I'm used to driving on the other side of the road to the UK. Having said that, I am willing to drive but not on motorways. I am generally very positive and calm which I think is an important part of being a carer. I believe in respecting the clients privacy in their own home whilst at the same time being supportive and available for their every need. I am available for respite care( if the permanent carer/family member needs a holiday) or for three to four weeks at a time. Ideally part of a rotation with another one or two carers is what works well for me as my permanent abode is in Greece.
