Even more so after nursing my mum until her end-of-life to liver cancer & my father who had very late stages of advanced Alzheimers and sadly passed away the end of August 2021. It is paramount that every individual has the utmost respect, dignity, independence whilst feeling safe & looked after. I understand how difficult & unnerving it is to have carers come in and look after your loved ones as I have been in that situation with my Father. I have extensive experience with many disabilities, conditions & diseases. These are: Cancer, Alzheimers, Dementia, Autism, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Brain injury, muscle wasting diseases, Parkinson’s, Angel-mans syndrome, Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Arthritis, Chromosome 12 Deletion, profound & multiple learning disabilities, paralysis & much experience with children with no statement of their conditions. My experience includes all aspect of personal care, administering medication, gasrostomty feeding, administering insulin, stoma, perristeen , catheter, BiPAP, nebulisers, oxygen & rectal paraldehyde. I have been driving on a full licence since I was 18 (more years than I care to think about!) and I have driven many large buses/vehicles. My clients were all of different ages and had individual care needs. My experience has been with dementia, long-term illnesses, mental health conditions and physical disabilities, and a lot of domiciliary care. I am a caring kind individual and believe good communication skills go a long way. I also have palliative care experience, I understand how being a full time carer can have an impact on someone life. I had been a foster carer for several years and my most recent job is working in a specialist school for children with complex needs. I have been told I have a calming voice, caring nature and a non-judgemental attitude. It's not often you don't see a smile on my face, I always try to turn the negative into a positive. What I enjoy most about my job is what I learn from those I care for.
